As a volunteer, nonprofit organization, Humane Society of West Alabama maintains lists of lost and found animals. Founded in 1971, the society offers shelter services for homeless animals. It provides solutions against the ill treatment of animals through third-party authorities. Humane Society of West Alabama offers information-and-referral services. The society has also provided adoption services for more than 80 homeless animals. It has rescued over 100 dogs and nearly 50 cats. Humane Society of West Alabama offers dogs for adoption from various breeds, such as dalmatians, beagles, shepherds and pomeranians. It organizes several fundraising events.
