Harley was under the care of The Dog House boarding facility in Odessa FL this past weekend. Sunday morning we received a call stating that she “escaped” and was hit by a car, no other information was given. Although the facility took her to the ER- the Dog House refuses to take any responsibility or help pay for any medical bills. During a time of tragedy the owner of the facility thought it was appropriate to bring up the contract that was signed prior to Harley’s boarding. She mentioned Harley “suffers from anxiety” and “I should’ve never took her in” then proceeded to hang up as we demanded more answers (probably realizing Harley could have used more attention from the trainers).

This was Harley’s second time staying at the Dog House, a place that claims to be “definitely all about the dogs”, but they displayed pure NEGLIGENCE with ZERO remorse for our 1.5 year old mini Aussie who almost died under their care.

My reason for this post is to not only have justice for Harley but ensure that every Tampa dog owner stays FAR AWAY from this facility. I hope this serves as a wake up call for you all to research the ins & out of these dog boarding facilities, ask all the questions, make sure they are not taking more than they can handle, etc. because I never thought this would happen to our family and my sweet furbaby. Harley is my tough little miracle fur baby. She is staying strong throughout all the treatments and is under 24 hour care. Tomorrow she will undergo reconstruction and double hip surgery. We’re hoping to have her back at home within the next week or two but she has a long road of recovery ahead of her ❤️‍🩹🙏🏼🐕‍🦺 we are lucky she is alive and we are so thankful for everyone’s thoughts, prayers and kind words. We can use your support in spreading the word in hopes to save other pups from the trauma and pain Harley is feeling.

I called to make a reservation for my two dogs. I spoke to a gentleman on the phone and he took down my information. I also informed him that one of my dogs had a torn tendon in the knee from a long time ago and wanted them to keep an extra eye on him while playing. I asked if it would be a problem and he said not at all. On the day I came to drop off the dogs, the lady that I talked to said I did not have a reservation. When I told her I did, she let out a frustrated sigh. Another sigh followed when I told her it was the first visit for one of my dogs. I started to tell her about pick up time and arrange for baths and when I told her about the injury to my dog's knee she let out another large sigh and rolled her eyes. At this point I was very upset, and I asked her if she just wanted us to leave because it was very apparent that my dogs were too much for her to handle. She said it's just that she, "Doesn't like dogs with injuries at her facility." She asked who I spoke to on the phone and I told her it was a man, but I didn't catch his name. She said she knew exactly who it was because they only have one guy that works there, and she said he would be "reprimanded." In the end I took my dogs back home and will never use this place again. I wish there was better communication between staff members because this all could have been avoided if her employees were well informed. Fine, I understand if you want to run a business that doesn't accept injured dogs (not everyone has the time and patience to properly care for dogs), but save potential customers some time by making it known on your website and make sure that if your employees answer the phone they are able to provide proper information.

Our two big Labs love the Dog House. They are well cared for and get plenty of exercise. I've never been this comfortable with a place for boarding and overnight lodging. The staff is attentive and my dogs are happy.

I did not have a very good experience. When I called to check in to see how she was doing there they informed me that my dog was coughing for a day now and they seperated her from the other dogs and was going to see if it still persistes. When I called to check on her the next day I was told that I needed to pick her up. They said that there were a couple of confirmed cases of kennel cough. I was on vacation. I had a friend pick her up and when he did she was so dirty. I had asked for them to give her a bath before she was picked up because I know that it is an outside facility. Well they did not. When she was home my friend said that he did not hear her cough at all. When I came home a day later she was still not coughing. My only though is if she was coughing it was because she was barking alot. That is what my vet said probably happened. I was glad that they seperated her but very diappointed they did not give me any other options other then picking her up when I was on vacation.

My dog loves coming to the place. The staff is awesome and my baby is treated like one of the family. She, my dog, loves coming and playing with the other dogs and not being in a cage all day is fantastic. dh

There is not a better place for your four legged family member. Pick up our two pups after being gone for 10 days and couldn't be happier. They were clean, happy and tired. As busy as they were Jamie took time away from what she was doing to make sure I knew what my pups had done during their stay. Its nice to know there's a place we can leave our dogs that we don't have to worry about whether they are ok or not. We will return many times!

Spanky, our "senior" Jack Russell thrives when we are away travelling because he gets TLC plus at The Dog House Boarding. If you are looking for a clean, caring, fun experience for your dog while you are away, this is the place to go! We trust The Dog House Boarding to keep Spanky bouncing around for many more of our travels!

This is an absolutely great place for your dogs to stay. I have two rottweilers that I boarded for a week and they had the best time there.The owners are fantastic and very concerned about your pets. They have a great facility with so much for your dogs to do and so much space to roam. Prices are very reasonable. I definetly would recommend The Dog House !!! :)

Great place lots of room and lots of fun for every one of all sizes and breeds...... love that they bond with the little one not just another tail with money....... .
