My family and I thought we would take part in the festivities by having a little Irish fare. We had not been to Conroy's before so decided to try it out. They had a special menu for St. Patrick's day with a few items not on their regular menu. We ordered the Potato Empanada as an appetizer, we specifically requested this before the meal as my son also ordered an appetizer for his meal and didn't want to confuse the two. My daughter had Chicken Strips, my wife a Ruben and Cole Slaw, and I had the Shepard's Pie. While my wife's sandwich was the regular price, my dish was $1 extra on the special menu. The table next to us sat down about 5-10 minutes after us and ordered the same appetizer and I believe they received ours as the one we received came out with the rest of our meal about 5 minutes later. The Empanada had a small salad on the plate with it and tasted ok, however underneath the entire plate, including under the salad, was coated in some type of oil or fryer grease. It wasn't just a small bit of the dish it self, it was like the oil was poured onto the plate. The Shepard's pie was not bad, but definitely nothing special or worth the price on the menu for it and the plating was a bit sloppy. My wife's Ruben was average and my son enjoyed the fried shrimp. My daughter's Chicken strips and fries were a mix, the fries appeared to be hand cut and fresh and weren't bad, although could use some seasoning. The strips appeared to be hand breaded chicken tenders however the batter was rather bland and the strips were over cooked to a dark brown that left the chicken a bit dry. The atmosphere was definitely the best thing about this place with a bit of live music playing in the back room, although the booths from the old pizza shop should be replaced or at the very least made so they don't slide all over the place. I would give this 2 / 5 and I probably will not visit again anytime soon.
