OUR MISSION AND CULTURE The Shanty is truly a culinary village with the aim to connect Wadsworth and the greater Chicago and Milwaukee areas to unique dining experiences focused on the true spirit of hospitality. As displayed on our west entrance, the Shanty was “built by the people.” Our building was locally sourced and locally constructed and our menu and events are developed with input from all our loyal patrons and dedicated staff. The Shanty as a meeting place for the community offers unique dining, an energetic bar scene, private events, off-site catering, cooking classes, guest chef dinner events, live theatre and performances, wine tastings, live-music on Friday & Saturday nights, and a one-of-a-kind family atmosphere. Voted the Best of Chicago in 2019, The State of Illinois Delicious Destination in 2016 and highlighted on multiple TV shows including Food Network’s hit show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives in 2010 and 2018. Had a great time - New Year’s Eve - sat a 10 person group - food was timely- and delicious!
My group of 4 went to the Shanty this past Saturday. We had a small wait but was WELL worth waiting for! We were in the horse room. The atmosphere was great and they had live great music and the volume was just right where we were still able to have great conversation. Our server Diane was WONDERFUL! Very knowledgeable on the menu and drink suggestions. Diana was very friendly and professional and provided us with great service! The appetizers were great we had the alligator tails, goat cheese wontons and crab cakes. Everyone's dinner was amazing. I had the honey glazed salmon. It was cooked perfect and came to the table still very hot. I will definitely come again when I am in the area. A MUST go to restaurant!!
I've lived in the northern Illinois area since I was very young. The Shanty has always been a regular stop for my father and uncle. I have always loved this restaurant but in recent years the new owners have expanded and made my childhood eatery even better!!
