Dr. Steven Effren was born in Orlando in 1968 where his father was stationed in the Air Force, though most of his youth was spent in Orangeburg, New York. His middle and high school years were spent in the greater Ft. Lauderdale area. Dr. Effren earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida. His podiatric training was completed in 1998 at Barry University in Miami, where he graduated with honors. Dr. Effren completed his surgical residency at JFK Medical Center in the Palm Beach area, where he received a well-rounded training with a strong focus on trauma and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Effren has lived and practiced in the North Central Florida area since completing his residency training. He has two sons and a wife, who happens to also be his partner at Live Oak Foot & Ankle. Dr. Effren has worked at Live Oak Foot & Ankle since 2000. Dr. Effren is on staff at Ocala Regional Medical Center, West Marion Community Hospital, AdventHealth Ocala, and TLC surgery Center in Lady Lake. He practices all aspects of podiatry including routine foot care, wound care, diabetic foot care, orthotic therapy, reconstructive and trauma surgery. Additionally, Dr. Effren spent 14 years on staff at the Ocala Wound & Hyperbaric Center. Dr. Effren is board certified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgeons and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. He is also a board-certified Fellow of the Academy of Physicians in Wound Healing. Dr. Effren is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association. When not working, Dr. Effren enjoys writing and recording music. He has also spent decades as an avid mountain biker and spelunker (cave exploration), beginning both avocations while a freshman at the University of Florida. Dr. Effren has two sons, 10-year-old Daniel, and recent Colorado State University grad, Zachary.
