St. Mary's Historic Site is the home of the U.S.'s first Roman Catholic Seminary (1791). It was also the home for the first U.S. born Saint, Mother Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton for one year (1808-1809). It was a refuge and gathering space for people of color.
