Just got my 12- 13 year old Creative Gigaworks subwoofer repaired which has electronics inside (which runs the system like a receiver, but made more specifically for computers). As these are not being made anymore, I cannot buy a replacement or send it back to the company to be repaired. It's an older system but still sounds great, and I wanted to keep it as it also has 7.1 surround and I love the quality. It is now working great and I am so happy to be able to listen to my home theatre again.Discount T.V. took on the job when no one else would. From the signage, it seems this business focuses more on older tv's, and electronics, but I'm sure they could fix newer items as well given that the owner who worked on my sub is an electrical engineer and has many years of experience (which I now believe considering what I was told by other repair shops regarding my subwoofer). I'm guessing they take newer or older units on a case by case basis. I'd call ahead and ask first to check.From what I understand, the current owner recently bought the business from the previous owner who has since retired.They are family owned and operated and the new owner and his daughter are very friendly and nice people. Good customer service and I feel like the price he charged me was reasonable. Pretty quick turnaround time (2 and 1/2 weeks) considering the parts had to be ordered from Japan. Overall, I was happy with the experience and would definitely return as a repeat customer. I'd recommend this place to my friends and family as well.

I took a 10yr old JVC compact-stereo cd-radio to this business with the complaint: "the cd player no longer READS cds." I was told by the owner Al that it was $45 to diagnose the problem and the $45 would be 'applied' to the repair. It took them about 2hrs to tell me that the entire "laser assembly" would have to be replaced. (This unit was no longer under warranty due to age, but JVC wanted me to transport it to Crown TV--N San Mateo). I declined, and Al was aware of this. JVC would not collaborate with Discount TV to obtain the "laser part" that they said: "did EXIST", but the unit could only be repaired by JVC. I picked up the unit today (2-4) after 2 weeks of phone calls and said to Al: "maybe you should keep a list of BRAND name electronics that you can actually fix and/or obtain parts for?" Al's response: "we fix all models." "But not just JVC?" "Well I've never seen your model before." Please don't send any business to Al.

was given estimate which was right on, tv was ready when they said, We would use them again!

Restored our old vcr back from the dead better than new. Also have had several tvs and dvd players one camcorder serviced would highly recommend to anyone
