Pros: the food had a good taste. The fact that they cook in front of you is fun and very intertaing... They throw food in you mouth.. Its super awsomeCons: the rice be uncooked sometimes and the food is way too expensive

Skeleton crew of waitresses led to longgggg pauses in service as I watched a group of "hostesses"standing around blocking the entrance. It is a great place for people that don't have a clue of what good food is supposed to be like.I ordered teriyaki steak which was poor quality beef with a lukewarm sauce poured over it.There were a few pieces of broccoli which were inedible so I treated them like a garnish.Expensive, bad food, poor service.I'll never go there again and tell EVERYONE I know to go cook an oriental TV dinner and stay home.

This is my favorite restaurant in Carbondale. The food is excellent on both sides of the restaurant, portions are the perfect size, waitstaff has always been helpful, and the chefs performing are entertaining. I highly recommend Fujiyama.

Worst Japanese food I have ever eaten. I ordered a variety of sushi, sashimi and rolls, including a tuna roll. It had salmon inside instead of tuna and all I could taste was grease from the fried panko bread crumbs they put inside. Why would you even put fried bread crumbs in a roll? When I asked the waitress about it she insisted it was tuna and still charged me for it even though I only ate one piece and sent it back. Kaya is less authentic and doesn't have good sushi by any stretch of the imagination, but at least theirs tasted better and the service was superior.

The sushi itself isn't amazing, but it is certainly acceptable if you are a big fan of sushi and sashimi. The worst part of this restaurant is the floor management--the hostesses and the woman who manages the waitresses are unwilling to assist customers, they are unfriendly, and they once told me, when I was trying to get a table for 15, that they were too busy that friday to bring more chairs over. I assumed they would want to at least humor a table that easily spent $1,000 or more that evening, but the lady in charge didn't seem to care. I think this is because they have the monopoly on Japanese food in the area, so there really isn't any competition. If you are in the area, and require excellent service and great sushi, then a 2 hour drive to Wasabi in St. Louis is a good idea. Otherwise, Fujiyama does the job for some low-priced, carry-out sushi on a Wednesday night.

Highly recommend. Food is excellent. Prices may be a little high, but quality of food is good and portions are always enough that I never go away hungry. Worth paying a little more for good food. Love the entertainment at the Habachi Grill and the chefs are always friendly. One bad thing is the wait on weekends for the Grill side. Hope they stay around for a long time.

this place is a great place to eat. It offers a wonderful atmosphere and great food. But you don't just come for the food you go to enjoy the show. They have about 6 Hibachi grill that have servers that put on a show for a table. It seats up to 10 at a table but small group can enjoy it as well

Great food, great experience. Decent prices for a Japanese steakhouse. Best Sushi in Carbondale. My only problem was the limited capacity. It can make for a long wait on weekends.

Very entertaining and delicious food. But agree with the other poster that the prices are a little too high. However, if you look at it like you are getting a show with your meal then I guess the price is right. I would definitely go back for the food and just order in the main restaurant part without the show because the prices there are about 1/2 of what you pay in the 'show room'.

Nice atmosphere, terrific Hibachi servers and food preparers. This place is very authentic except in price. It's VERY overpriced for what you get. Other places like this offer the same menu for half the price but I guess in culture-starved Southern Illinois you have to pay more to get away from the Nascar crowd. Nice place to visit maybe once a year with these prices. Good luck making it in Saluki land.
