      General Info
      Formed in 1898, Lorain City Schools includes nearly 20 academic buildings and an administrative center. The district serves nearly 10,000 students and employs more than 1,000 people, including nearly 750 teachers. Each of its schools follows an extensive curriculum of academic and developmental courses. The district, located in Lorain, Ohio, provides a wide selection of books through its library services. It offers almanacs, bibliographies and research materials, dictionaries, encyclopedias, textbooks and video library services. Its student activities include academic challenge competitions; art, drama, business, chess and foreign language clubs; bands; Hackey Sack; Mat Maids; American Field Service; and the National Honor Society. The district also encourages various sports activities, including baseball, basketball, cross country, football, soccer, tennis, track, volleyball, wrestling and golf.
