Good Food But That's About It.

In March 2008, we reserved the partyroom for our wedding rehearsal dinner. We are huge fans of their sister restaurant, Los Portales. So, we were certain this would be a great place to have our friends and family for a night of good food and fellowship. We made the reservation for 6pm. A friend of mine left our rehearsal early to get things set up at the restarant because we had gifts to give out and we wanted things to look nice. When she went in, she told them who she was and what she was there for. They pretended to have no idea of what she was talking about. We made the original reservation in late December 2007 one afternoon while having lunch. We sat and talked with the two guys who we were told run things around there. He wrote down the information on one of their tickets they used at that time to take orders. He kept the original and gave me the copy. He told me to call again in mid-Febuary to remind them and then again 2 hours before we arrived. I did all of this as he asked. But when my friend arrived, she was made to feel stupid. The party room was full with the exception of one small table. They told her that as people leave, they would clean up and not sit anyone else in their place. So, she went on to set up as much as she could one the one tiny table available. While she was doing this, the manager approached her and told her that they were worried that they will lose money because of what we are doing and that they wait staff was concerned that they would not be tipped. She was floored but tried her best to let him know that they would receive tip. She was calling my cell phone frantically but because I was in the middle of my wedding rehearsal, I didn't receive the calls until we were on our way to the restaurant. Once we arrived, the party room was still half full and my guests were starting to arrive. I had a talk with the manager and showed him the information I was given when we made the reservation. He said he was never made aware of any of this but never once did he apologize. We all crowded around the couple of tables that were available and placed our drink order and finally our food order. By the time the food started to arrive, the partyroom was finally cleared out completely and we were able to spread out, relax, and try to enjoy ourselves. Service was slow because he only assigned one waiter to our party. The waiter we had was great though. He was polite and friendly. He was trying the best he could to serve us the way we were supposed to be served. When the party was over, my parents went to the register to pay and my husband and I stayed behind to talk with the waiter. We thanked him for the service he provided and commended him on a job well done. Then I handed him a hefty tip and had him promise me that he would get the whole amount of the tip and not have to share it with anyone else. Overall, the night ended on a good note but they were extremely unorganized, unfriendly with the exception of the waiter, and almost ruined a night that was very important to us. The only plus side to it all was that the food was delicious. No complaints there. But if you want to hold an event there in their party room, don't hold your breath on it being a good experience.
