Josef's pastry has amazing and delicious food! Everything there is delicious! I love! Love ! Love their lemon meringue pie and their cakes and cannoli's. The food is made with the best quality products and you'll not find a clear business.

It's time to find another bakery because the Josef's we all knew is gone! It saddens me to write those words because I have grown up with Josef's cakes and pastries. My entire family has been ordering cakes for every birthday, holiday and special occasion since I can ever remember and I am in my 40's now. The taste of the cakes over the last 5+ years has been hit or miss. Josef's always had the most delicious and distinct flavor chocolate cake. We order cakes several times a year and at least half of those times it hasn't either been fresh or tasted the same as it always used to in the past. I have brought this to the new owners attention a couple of times in the past and received an excuse and apology. I even brought in a cake once for the new owners to taste what I was talking about. They agreed with me that the chocolate flavor was off. Well, as the loyal customer I was, I continued to order cakes there, but NO MORE! I just picked up my last cake there on Friday. When I picked up the cake it was decorated completely not the way I ordered it. It had fondant on it instead of all buttercream. The writing and balloons were on the side not the top as I asked for it to be. I wasn't happy about it but it still looked nice. The new owner came out and offered to fix it but I didn't have the time to wait. I asked for the cake to be ready at a certain time for a reason! When I went to pay the amount was $10 dollars more than the price I was quoted over the phone when I placed the order. The new owner came back out and told me I was wrong and that the price I was told was for a 9 inch cake and not the 10 inch I received. I had my notes right in front of me and I knew exactly what I was quoted for the 10 inch cake. Apparently the young woman taking the order misquoted me. I explained that I expected to be charged what I was quoted especially since the cake was not decorated as I ordered and that the mistake was theirs and not mine. The new owner was not only EXTREMELY RUDE but ARGUED with me repeatedly about it. I stood my ground and ended up paying what I was quoted but should not have had to go through that at all! I should have been getting an apology not an argument. Now mind you, he did this in front of a bakery full of customers! I even had 3 of the customers comment to me about how rude he was and tell me I was right. These new owners have no sense of customer service or show of respect to loyal customers! So aside from that awful experience, the cake was once again not good. I have never had fondant before but it was terrible tasting! The cake was not fresh and light as it should be and it almost tasted like the batter was watered down because the chocolate flavor was not there. So needless to say my husband's cake was ruined. My guests all commented on how bad the cake tasted. I have a cake which I paid $41 for that is garbage. I wanted to take the cake right back to the bakery but let me tell you I don't have the time nor need the abuse! Ever since Josef's was sold and bought out some time ago by these 2 new owners who are brothers the place has been slipping. The long standing reputation has been forever tarnished in my book. Yes, some of their pastries are still absolutely delicious but as I said its been hit or miss to those of us who know what it always was. This last experience with the owner and the way the cake turned out put the nail in the coffin for me. Please know how truly upset and sad this makes me! I just cannot spend my hard earned money at this bakery anymore. Josef's you just lost a long standing customer here and literally 17 other long standing customers who I am related to and who were at my party. No exaggeration! Not to mention how many you impacted that day who witnessed how rude you were to me in the bakery. This is what happens when you treat people poorly and make a bad cake!

This pastry shop is to die for...

This pastry shop is to die for! I travel nearly 20 miles to get there; not for just special occasions, but on a weekly basis. Their desserts are works of art. As opposed to previous reviews regarding the staff, I find them very friendly and organized. Coffee cakes, danish rolls, bread, tortes, creme brulee and food, i.e., chicken salad and quiches are worth every penny. Treat yourself. I promise you won't be disappointed.
