Attorney Dennis A. Fordham (Lakeport, California) assists clients primarily in the areas of Estate Planning, Estate Administration and Medi-Cal/SSI Benefits. Our clients come primarily from Lake and Mendocino Counties. Estate Planning is about protecting you and your loved ones in the event of incapacity and death. It involves drafting Trusts, Wills, Death Beneficiary Forms, Powers of Attorney, and Advance Health Care Directives that meet the clients’ goals regarding both Incapacity and Legacy planning: Who steps in, when they step-in, and what authority they have over the client’s estate during incapacity. And, who steps in, who gets “what, when and how” after the client dies. Estate Administration is about administering an incapacitated or deceased person’s estate. It involves administering an incapacitated or deceased person’s estate. That may involve administering a Trust, commencing a Probate, or a less formal estate administration for small estates. Medi-Cal/SSI is about preserving a person’s entitlement to such needs based government benefits. It involves issues related to Medi-Cal eligibility, Share of Cost, and Estate Recovery. Such issues are also addressed in Estate Planning. In addition, we also assist clients with Conservatorships, establishing Business Entities and Planned Giving, typically in the context of Estate Planning or Estate Administration.
