So-so

As a divorced Dad you are always trying to find something to do that isn't going to bankrupt you. As more and more things become more and more expensive, your options dwindle. One thing that I have been able to count on is the Cinema Pub. While the price of the movie has gone up, it is still cheaper than other theaters. You just have to wait a little while for that movie you just wanted to see, to come around. Show times are limited usually to one showing, so it is best to hit their website to see the listings. http://www.cinema-pub.com/
Rather than standard theater seating, you have tables and chairs. You can opt for the obligatory popcorn, or have a hearty stack of nachos. The nachos being more like you get in a restaurant rather than the small disks and Velvetta you get in the theaters. They used to have pitchers of soda, but with all the sloshing and spills, I think they opted to just have the larger 20 0z bottles of soda available. Pitchers are still used for beer if requested. Oh, yeah, they have a limited selection of beer and wine for the adults.
Usually we will get the nachos and popcorn, but every now and then I will get my son his curly fries or the cheesy fries if he wants. This isn't the portions you normally get in a theater, this is more restaurant style. After all it is also a limited menu restaurant. You can get grilled pizza, hamburgers, Porky Pig sandwiches, Sausage and Pepper, and many other items. They also have the standard theater fare of large box candy if you want.
Now for the most part, the kids and I will just get sodas, popcorn and maybe some curly fries, but we have had supper there. I once had the calamari, but wouldn't get it again. They were done okay and had hot peppers, but just a little too liquid for me. I like mine drier. Of course, once you have had Quan''s Kitchen which is right next door, you are spoiled for tasty fried calamari. I am not a big fan of their popcorn either. It always seems like it is small kernels, dry, and flavorless. It is like they used stale popcorn to make it. (Popcorn aficionados know that it is the water content in the kernel that makes them explode. Stale popcorn has less moisture so they don't pop quite so big and fluffy.)
In the end, while the food, isn't anything to really right home about, it is reasonably priced. While buying nachos, curly fries, etc, will put you up near the price of going to a first-run theater, you end up getting more bang for the buck.
Recommended: Nachos, curly fries, cheesy fries.
Thumbs down: Popcorn, calamari (though if you like yours swimming in wine sauce, you may love these)

For those of you not on a tight budget, I recommend going to see the movie and then having supper at Quan's next door. A definite Five-Star Chinese restaurant and sushi bar.
