Rude and Crooked

After a foot sprain on Monday I called on Tuesday at 9:17am and was told I 1st had to pay a $10 outstanding bill from 2002 before she would make me an appointment. After paying I got one for 9:45am. I told her I might be running late and she said it wouldn't be a problem. Once the the receptionist was short with me and when I was halfway through paperwork she wanted I was told that because I had been late I couldn't be seen that day. She made an appointment for Wednesday at 5:30pm. While getting ready for the appointment on Wednesday I got a call telling me that I wouldn't be seen until had paid a balance from the previous day for being late. I told her that that wouldn't be happening and I had taken the day off to accommodate such a late appointment. Thanks but no thanks .

office full of flakes

I have been a patient of dr.jablows since I was a child. I think her and her practice is horrible. I will never return there. And I do not recommend that anyone go there for any reason. I recently went there for urinary testing. Extremely embarrassed I get treated by Jablow like a fool. She made me feel like a serious fool. Told the results would be in in 5days and she would call with the results.. 2weeks later all I've so far is my bill for $106 for peeing in a cup and attitude from the secretary. 4years ago before I went to cambodia and thailand for a month I saw Dr. Jablow with concern entering the country for the diseases and quality of the air if I should take any precautions.. "Nope" she says. Was there for a month and a few months later I developed a nasty cough that stuck with me for 4months. Saw her again and still no concern, nothing to worry about it's just allergys she says. 3years later I still have that cough. I do not recommend this office to anyone. And like Kev said they charge you $15 - $30 for the 5min visit.. Unheard of.

I have to write just a little blurb about Hillside, as a former employee. I, from first hand experience, know how crazy the office setting can be there. I do wish patients would understand a little more from the office workers' perspective, that most of the time when we do not call back, it's because we're waiting from the Dr/administrator/some other superior (of which, in that place, there are many). We'd love to answer all the calls on time and give our undivided attention (I'm not being sarcastic, we really would like to); however, we are always sorely understaffed--all at the partners/administrators cost-cutting scheme. I just ask that when people read these reviews, they understand that we that work the front desk and the phones are not always just ignorant, uneducated, lazy people...but workers that are under tremendous pressure and workers who are constantly being asked to do more and more with less and less. I rate this a three for the girls who work to the bone.

Awful, impersonal service.

I am a former patient of Hillside Family Community Medicine. In the summer of 2009, I spent 10 minutes in the Hillside Family Community Medicine appointment system planning to see Dr. Solmaz Behtash for the first time due to a severe fever, but then instead decided to visit urgent care and a specialist with whom I had history due to scheduling conflicts. Despite notifying Hillside of the conflict, the rationale for seeing a doctor with whom I had history and my need to cancel, I was charged $30.00 for this 10-minute stay in Hillside's appointment book. Though I was told this unreasonable fee could have been reversed by Dr. Behtash, it appears she saw fit not to do so as I requested the fee be waived multiple times but received three invoices in the two months following the canceled appointment. I cannot speak to Dr. Behtash's medical capabilities, but I can confirm that Hillside Medical's impersonal, cold and profit-driven behavior has ruined my desire to return to their practice.

A patient at Hillside since the practice opened, my doctor, Michael Fine, retired recently. He and his wife (Dr. Levitt) were both excellent, and my experiences with other doctors in the practice have also been positive. However, the staff leave much to be desired, as does the phone system. Right now I am waiting for Hillside to get back to the pharmacy with new scripts. After a phone call to the office, a drop off of the forms required by the insurance company to process a mail script for a 90 day supply, and two calls from the local CVS for a 15 day supply of each med to fill the gap while waiting for the mail order, nothing has happened. Hopefully the situation will be rectified very soon. My suggestion, Hillside may be worth a try, but don't hold your breath waiting for input that requires staff assistance. If I didn't have a long relationship with my former physician, or if an alternative family practice with strong hospital privileges, was easy to find, I'd likely switch.

The doctor that I see at Hillside is very pleasant but the staff is not overly friendly. When you call to either speak with the doctor or to make an appointment they seem very put off that you called. The staff also is very slow to have the doctor's return calls to a patient or when a staff member returns a call they never have all the information necessary to answer your questions and then they have to call you back again....if they remember to do so. I've been waiting for a call back for about 2 weeks now and still have not heard back from the staff member. So now I need to make another appointment with my doctor and pay my co-pay just to get my questions answered. Staff should take a class on manners and customer service.
