      The Vietnam Veterans of America is a chartered veterans service organization that serves the needs of Vietnam-era veterans and their families. Founded in 1978, it is a nonprofit organization that provides memberships to more than 50,000 individual members throughout North America. The organization provides advocacy, health care, law enforcement and social services. The Vietnam Veterans of America maintains a record of injuries and illnesses incurred during military service by its members. The organization also publishes The VVA Veteran, which is a newspaper that offers information related to politics and society. It additionally organizes various reunions and conference seminars. The Vietnam Veterans of America maintains one of its chapters in Richmond, Va.
