My experience with Eldred was so absurd that at times I wondered if my friends were pulling a prank on me. It began when the local Sears store hired this company to deliver my washer and dryer. The delivery men made an enormous gouge in my floor, mumbled "sorry," then left with no explanation of how the situation would be handled.



I immediately contacted John Eldred, who identified himself as the owner of the company, and explained what had transpired. Mr. Eldred responded by accusing me of trying to make him "replace an old floor with a new one." After sending him proof the floor was not even a year old, he simply said "I will take care of it."



After numerous discussions with Mr. Eldred over the next three weeks (each ending with him saying "I will take care of it"), I wound up paying out of pocket for the replacement floor so I could use my laundry room. Even though Mr. Eldred obviously had no intention of making things right, I made a little hobby of calling him about once a week for the next 18 months.



During this time, I documented dozens of conversations with Mr. Eldred. Amazingly, the man never used the same excuse twice. Even more incredible is the fact that, without exception, he ended every single conversation with his mantra, "I will take care of it."



Some of Mr. Eldred's many gems include:



"I am not responsible for labor."

"I am not responsible for materials."

"I will have to talk to Harry."

"You will have to talk to Harry."

"I am not paying to have the washer and dryer moved out of the way."

"Are you sure that was the same flooring as before? (Obviously, it was)."

"The check is in the mail."

"My guys gouged your floor?"

"I have been sending checks to you, but they keep getting returned."

"Are you sure you have not been talking to Harry about this?"

"Who are you again?"



If you value your home and personal items and do not find yourself in a position to pay for a small remodeling job, then I suggest you steer clear of Eldred. As a moving company, I give them one star. As a source of personal amusement, I might go a little higher.

I had a great experience with Eldred Movers. They protected my floors, very polite, and they were very careful with my items. I had a couple of small scratches on a desk and they sent someone out and repaired it to my satisfaction. I have referred them to several of my friends who have been happy as well.

We recently used Eldred Van & Storage and what a pleasure it was to have a local moving company that was professional from the beginning to the end of the move.

BEWARE of this company-

I recently used Eldred to move and they damaged multiple pieces of my property. For two months I went rounds with the owners trying to file a claim, they would not return my calls and on a few occasions when I did actually speak with them they assured me they would return my call the following day, which they never would. On one occasion the owner actually told me she did not return my call because she had a migraine! Needless to say after two months I was in the same boat I started in so I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to which they never responded as well. If you value your property do not use this company besides being extremely unprofessional if they damage your household goods they will not replace or even acknowledge fault.
