We had a negative experience working with Custom Built Homes of Maine and are facing thousands in repairs to faulty construction. Improper installation of shingles on the roof, flashing around the house was improperly installed, outside lighting systems leaking water and not working properly, improper seeding of the lawn. All of these problems were identified by experts hired to fix the problems.



In addition, the furnaces have had to be replaced twice – resulting in days of no heat. The appliance was still under warranty so they did replace this free of charge. We have not had a problem with the third furnace.



Before building, they were very pleasant and attentive. After the house was built, they convinced us that some of the problems didn't need to be addressed or that they shouldn't have to make repairs. Now, after 5 years, the warranty has lapsed and we are stuck with the bill. We were first time home buyers and fell for their sales tactics and shady business dealings.
