My husband bought me a wonderful Baggallini tote from Cartan's for Christmas that was unfortunately not my style. Although the receipt says they have a 14 day return policy (already ridiculous considering every other retail store in the U.S. has at least a 30 day policy) my husband took the bag into the store with the receipt and was told I could bring it back, no problem. When I returned with the bag I handed it to the sales associate that greeted me and said I was there to exchange it for something else. A few moments later she returned and said they could not accept the bag because it had been worn- I had literally worn the bag half of the day it was given to me. This bag had not one scratch, smudge, tear, rip, smell, etc. of any kind. It was in PERFECT 100% mint condition. The manager (and apparently, owner as well) came to the front to confirm that they would not accept the bag and acted like it was an outrageous notion to begin with.

This ludicrous policy communicates only one thing quite clearly: Cartan's has no regard for it's clientele as long as they get their money.
Cartan's, you have lost my entire family's business FOR LIFE. This policy/mentality is a disgrace to your neighborhood.

I bought hiking boots, which were on sale & the last pair. The saleswoman, who helped me, insisted I wore a D-width. No. I stood firm. I wear a B. When I got home, I discovered the boots were a D. The "D" on the box was altered w/ a line through it to make it look like a "B".

When I went back, the manager rudely stated that no one from Cartan's would have done such a thing. Not only did he not believe me, he talked OVER me. I could barely get a word in.

The saleswoman, who sold me the shoes, recognized me. Yet, she stood there w/o saying anything, letting me take the blame for size change on the box.

The thing is I actually liked the boots & wasn't really that interested in returning them. I just wanted to call to his attention to the deception & check to see if the boots for were safe enough for me to wear on my right foot, which is permanently

This was the worst experience. Even though the staff is attentive & knowledgeable, it can't compensate for how I was treated.

The sales staff are attentive and very helpful, but I had two serious problems. The first is that I went home with the wrong size hiking boots. They were on sale and the last pair in the store. I wear a B-width. The saleswoman insisted I wore a D. No. I stood firm. I bought a pair of B-width athletic shoes and hiking boots. When I got home, I discovered the boots were a D-width. The "D" on the box was altered with a line through it to make it look like a "B" and the words "wide/large" were crossed out. When I went back, the manager insisted that NO ONE from Cartan's would have done such a thing, the boots were worn, and that was that. He talked over me and I could barely get a word in. Even worse, the saleswoman, who sold me the shoes, recognized me. Yet, she stood there without saying anything, letting me take the blame for size change on the box. It was completely despicable. The thing is I actually liked the boots and wasn't really that interested in returning them. I just wanted to call to his attention to the deception and check to see if the boots for were safe enough for me to wear on my right foot, which is permanently damaged.I can understand the manager thinking I wore the boots, because I did walk around my house to see how they fit, but I had no reason to change the size from a "D" to a "B". Quite frankly, though, even if I had worn the boots, it should have been irrelevant. The bottom line is that I was intentionally sold the wrong size shoes. Any decent manager would have gone out of his way to apologize and rectify the matter. This was the worst experience I've ever had in a store and, needless to say, it's unlikely I'll return.
