Located in Pueblo, CO, Belaire Animal Hospital is a veterinary clinic specializing in small animal care, including dogs, cats and small exotic pets. Since the early 1960s we have been "the pet lover's vet," providing small animal medicine and surgery on the south side of Pueblo. Looking for hard-to-find pet food? We also carry a number of top prescription pet foods, such as Hill's, Science Diet, iVet and Royal Canin. Our veterinarian services include: Vaccinations Surgery Dentistry Geriatrics X-rays Allergy testing And much more! Our tradition of compassionate veterinarian care goes back over 40 years. Opened in 1962, Dr. Gradisar owned and operated the clinic until he sold it to Dr. Christine Burgess and her husband in the summer of 1999. Dr. Burgess is a 1995 graduate of Colorado State College School of Veterinary Medicine. She is a native of Colorado and grew up in Littleton. After graduating from CSU, Dr. Burgess moved to Page, AZ, and practiced under Dr. Jerry Roundtree where she gained valued experience in small animal medicine and surgery. In 1999, Dr. Burgess had the opportunity to purchase Belaire Animal Hospital. Dr. Burgess takes great pride and satisfaction in helping healing animals. She likes to practice progressive medicine and strives to find the answers to heal the animals in her care. She is married to Ty Burgess, and they have a son named Colin, a daughter named Paige, and a magnificent menagerie of pets. Call us for an appointment today. We are open six days a week. Ear cropping is inhumane, and barbaric, done by ignorant pet owners for a certain look. Cropping does nothing for an animal's overall health, there is a reason most reputable vets no longer perform the procedure. I have found Dr. Burgess to be extremely compassionate and concerned about all of my pets, feline and K-9's overall well being. You can tell that both she and her staff truly care about the animals that walk through their doors. I highly recommend her to anyone in the Pueblo area.
I have cropped my dog's ears here before and it was done very well and the dog is doing fine. Unfortunately the service is no longer offered which is not good because vets do the crop in a clean environment and know what they're doing. Now you have some people going back to the old razor blade method in environments that are not sterile and most likely by individuals who don't know what they're doing. I've seen doberman puppies with cropped ears; the guy told me he used scissors and cut them off and I'm not saying he wouldn't have done it anyway, but until cropping becomes illegal people are going to do it. The service should be offered so that it can be done right or at least give these would be ear croppers the option.
