General Info
David Harris, MD, is a neurologist in the Barrow Epilepsy Program and an associate professor in the Department of Neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in clinical neurophysiology, neurology, and epilepsy. Dr. Harris’ expertise is comprehensive, with a vested interest in sudden unexplained death in epilepsy (SUDEP), counseling and managing patients through the epilepsy surgery journey, critical care EEG, long-term electroencephalography, and subcortical stimulation for epilepsy. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society, the American Epilepsy Society, and the American Society of Neurophysiological Monitoring. Dr. Harris earned his medical degree from Florida State University, in addition to a Master of Science in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis from the University of Michigan. He completed his neurology residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Pennsylvania, followed by a clinical neurophysiology fellowship and an epilepsy fellowship at Colombia University Medical Center in New York. Dr. Harris‘ pursuits in research center on epilepsy—not only SUDEP, but the subcortical involvement and modulation in seizures and in epilepsy. He’s actively involved in grant research, prospective studies, and consortiums, while also lecturing annually about SUDEP and stereographic EEG to localize seizure onset.
