Based on personal experience with RHNO, I would not recommend RHNO to anyone who has medical issues other than needing the simplest of inpatient therapies and who can effectively communicate their needs.

In 2017, my husband needed care for a recent tracheostomy and cervical spinal fusion. He could not breathe without the tracheostomy tube, could not swallow nor speak and was being fed through a nasal feeding tube.

RHNO assured us his entire medical and therapy needs could be met at their facility. This included experienced and competent nursing care and respiratory, occupational, physical and speech therapist to deal with his specific medical issues.

Instead, my husband was assigned nurses who had no experience with carrying for a patient with a tracheostomy, we were intentionally mislead as to RHNO having a respiratory therapist on staff for my husband’s respiratory needs. Within a couple of days of being admitted, the only respiratory therapist went on vacation with no replacement. The room was not being restocked with essential respiratory supplies nor was the equipment being attended to daily. There was a delay in medications, sterile procedures when deep suctioning were not being adhered to, lack of response to the call button, lack of urgency to suction and clear lungs out, cancellation of pre-arranged transportation to medical appointments and the unwillingness of some therapist to do therapy on a schedule that would be conducive to my husband’s schedule and not theirs. Upon discharge home, RHNO "forgot" to order his home supplies such as feeding and suction equipment along with medications.

All these issues were brought to the attention of the director of nursing, our case manager and/or the physicians but no changes were made.

The administration found no negligence in their care. I was there 24/7 for 3 weeks. I cannot stress the importance of having an advocate with you or your loved one.
