AVOID - DO NOT DONATE: The Humane Society of the North Bay is horribly managed and as a result their animals are SUFFERING. Their "Director" Tina is completely incompetent, constantly resorting to searching Google to make management / legal decisions and even uses it for the most basic of common sense problems... It's really blatant and embarrassing for the organization, as even I, an occasional volunteer, have easily noticed it. The shelter is poorly maintained, it's dirty and the animals are severely neglected. I would recommend going to Fairfield or Concord to adopt, as the facilities are much nicer.

While volunteering, I RECENTLY WATCHED A DOG DIE SLOWLY ON TOP OF A DESK in the lobby, when they had a LONG period of time in which they could have sent the dog to get emergency care (it was in the morning). This really made me angry, as it did many of the other volunteers who crowded around and watched the dog die. I think they said Tina needed to approve the transfer of the dog (I don't think anyone else had the authority to make the decision and only Tina (the "Director") could approve it. Staff made several phone calls and NO ONE WOULD ANSWER THEIR PHONES to make a decision.

I remember that the Humane Society Officer that was "on-call" was Officer Dart, and she didn't even bother coming into work to help the dog until several hours later in the afternoon, after it was long dead. I can't believe they would just have the staff STAND THERE AND WATCH A DOG DIE and do nothing... I felt helpless and wanted to just take the dog to get help myself... It was the cruelest, most disgusting treatment of a living thing I have ever seen in my life. For a humane society that disapproves of euthanasia they sure had no problem with the torture of this poor dog. THEIR INSUFFICIENT / INDECISIVE MANAGEMENT DIRECTLY KILLED THIS DOG that surely would have survived if it was provided treatment....

Further, this is all in my opinion from my observations volunteering. Please, I invite you to go see for yourself what this facility is like. I hope their board does something about this horrific incident, as the Humane Society has become a disgrace to Vallejo and needs serious changes in management if they hope to ever regain any respect from the animal lovers in the area again. God save the animals, someone needs to.
