The John D. Dingell VA Medical Center, located in Detroit, is more than 100-bed full-service medical center that provides primary, secondary and tertiary care. The medical center provides acute medical, surgical, psychiatric, neurological and dermatological inpatient care. It also offers mental health care and services that include substance abuse treatment and community-based psychiatric programs. The medical center also operates a 100-plus bed nursing home care unit and a health care for homeless veterans program. It specializes in various areas, including audiology, pathology, dietetics and psychology. It also administers community-based outpatient clinics in Michigan and veteran outreach centers in Detroit. It serves more than 330,000 veterans in Wayne, Okla., and Macomb and St. Clair, Mich.
