North Star is Alaska's premier behavioral health provider that specializes in helping young people with life's challenges. North Star hospital has 37 double rooms (accommodating up to 74 children and teens) with 19 rooms for teens and 18 for preteens and children. We have classrooms, specialized activity and therapy areas, a gym with a climbing wall, cafeteria, indoor and outdoor activity and recreation areas, outdoor challenge course, and a solarium for family and group gatherings. Children share rooms in areas specially designated for their age, gender and therapy goals. Our Adolescent wing has both male and female units. Although there are group rooms on both adolescent units, we offer some co-ed groups led by a leading Psychiatrist, based on individual treatment needs.
