Went to Gandy Dancer on graduation day and we were very disappointed. There were 9 people in our party and we got there at about 4pm, and I feel like they might have had a different menu. Of the entire group, half of the groups' veggies and a few entree's were cold. One person in our party sent a filey back and another sent a risotta back. My filet was just ok, had much better in the area for a lot cheaper price. Our waiter really didn't care too much, and when a few of us ordered coffee, by the time the waiter returned (after two requests) for cream our coffees were cold. They added 18% gratuity in no matter what, and it showed as the waiter really didn't do anything more then what you would receive at Denny's or a Coney at 3am. I really like other Muer restaurants Charley's Crab and Big Fish, so I was left completely unfilled. They did have a lot of valet parkers there though, which was the only plus of the evening.
The Gandy Dancer is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always tasty and presented so beautifully. I enjoy the atmosphere as well. The food is expensive but worth the price. I always get the fish and there is always something different for me to try and I always enjoy the different combinations of flavor. The appetizers, salads and desserts are great as well. The staff are friendly and efficient.
I've not been for dinner, but the Sunday brunch is wonderful! The server was very helpful as this was our first time here. Reservations recommended, our table was ready and waiting when we arrived. Great selection of seafood and desserts as well as an omlette station. String cortet was a nice touch! Very highly recommend brunch!
We have been many times and find this to be a good place for a comfortable, quiet, easy, dining experience.
I was not satisfied with the meal or the service. The manager made it perfectly clear that our kind was not welcomed. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone I cared about and would never eat there again.
While I wouldn't recommend the restaurant for regular meals, their brunch makes up its shortfalls. For the price, the selection you get definitely makes it a good Sunday brunch spot. The service in the main dining room is excellent - as good as some of the top restaurants in major cities (i.e. SF, NYC).
Service was somewhat slow but for their prices this should not have been an issue. The mahi-mahi and salmon were dry and on the skimpy side as were the side selections. Hard to say this was gourmet. The price was the only indicator this was a Muer restaurant. Quality was below average. I agree on it being a step above a Red Lobster in all areas. Would not recommend - too hyped up.
I would consider this the best seafood restaurant of the Muer restaurant family. Certainly, the train depot atmosphere adds to the texture of the dining experience. In addition to excellent fresh fish (when prepared simply), their wine list is relatively comprehensive and sold at a reasonable value.
The ambiance of the Depot was excellent. The food was suberb in all areas. Their extensive wine list and server assistance contributed to our fine dining experience. I would highly reccommend the Gandy Dancer for fresh seafood. The pastry Chef is to be congratulated on her excellent creations.
I went to this restaurant in september of 2000. The only high point was the lemon cheesecake that i had. It was cleaverly made into a bomb shape, and served with fruit compote and a geometrical shape. My utmost to the pastry chef. Other than that i found the establishment to be nothing but a step above red lobster. Institutional more than elegant, i do think that the executive chef could learn a thing or two from his pastry chef.
We frequent this establishment, it's the pinicale of seafood for freshness, flavor and presantation. You won't be disatisfied.
