Lana Panagoulia has extensive professional and personal experience in the areas of divorce and custody. Lana served as Co-Chair of the Family Law Section of the Washtenaw County Bar Association for three years, and during this time she organized seminars for family law attorneys on the subjects of bankruptcy and divorce, in addition to same gender law issues in Michigan. Lana received her law degree CumLaude with praise and holds a Master of Arts in Teaching with an Early Childhood Endorsement and French as a teaching major. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in Communication from the University of Michigan. Becausee of her outstanding academic achievement, Lana qualified for paid student substitute teaching, and was named on the National Dean's List and Golden Key National Honor Society. She worked for a large defense firm for almost three years before returning to pursue her interest in children's rights. Lana worked in the broadcast media for some time before studying teaching. She speaks French, Greek and Spanish. In law school, Lana received numerous awards and scholarships, including the Ford Motor Company Leadership Award, the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation Award, and the Vice President's Scholarship. Lana was a member of Law Review, Moot Court, and it is reported that her victory in the run-off election for the Student Bar Association Vice Presidency created the first all-women law school governing board in the United States. Lana was appointed by her law school peers as the Student Chair of the Voice for Justice Public Interest Auction, and helped to raise thousands of dollars for students so they could receive prestigious fellowships in the area of public interest. Lana was also a Pupil of the American Inns of Court, a member of the National Trial Team, a competitor in numerous appellate competitions, and she interned for the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office in the child abuse and neglect division. Lana also interned for Justice Marilyn Kelly of the Michigan Supreme Court, and for three judges in the Washtenaw County Circuit Court. Lana was named Associate Fellow of the Institute of the African American Child (ISAAC) at the College of Education at Wayne State University, where she also served as Chief Operating Officer and Assistant Founding Director of the Institute under Dr. Janice E. Hale.Â
