- Dental ExaminationFor every patient, as part of their routine dental exam, we provide an oral cancer examination. When detected and treated early, the chances for successful treatment are highest. According to the American Dental Association almost 42,000 Americans will be diagnosed with oral and throat cancers this year and the 5 year survival of those diagnosed is only slightly more than 64%.
- X-raysDental X-rays are important part of your regular dental visits. They are necessary to help diagnose problems not visible to the naked eye. Some patients are concerned about the amount of exposure to radiation. Our digital x-ray equipment exposes patients to much less radiation than conventional dental x-rays, about 90% less. Digital x-rays may also mean shorter dental visits. Traditional methods made patients wait until the film was developed but digital radiography, the sensor develops the picture and displays it on the computer screen almost instantaneously. Once on the computer screen, digital x-rays can be enlarged, and the brightness and contrast can be adjusted for a better visual of the tooth and to detect small cavities.

- FillingsWhen teeth have cavities or are fractured, they may need to be restored with a filling. There are two types of fillings composite and amalgam. Composite is a natural looking resin and bonds to the tooth. Amalgam is silver in color, less expensive, can be unattractive and despite the silver color contains elemental mercury. - Deep CleaningSeabreeze Dental are the Atlanta periodontal therapy experts. Gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss in the United States. Regular Cleanings still make up the backbone of periodontal therapy. When Periodontal disease does not respond to routine care, Root planning is often the next step. Recently, the advent of antibiotic implantable biocompatible vehicles has been proven to enhance the results of root planning treatments.
- DenturesImplant teeth, like natural teeth, anchor to the jaw bone. This is the most important difference between implant teeth and other methods of teeth replacement such as dentures and bridges. With an implant, the missing tooth can be easily replaced by procedure without any damage to the surrounding teeth. The restored implant tooth is supported on it's own and is not connected to adjacent teeth.
- Dental ImplantsGetting a dental implant is usually a very predictable and successful procedure. But like other dental procedures, it may not always work. A failed dental implant is an unusual situation, but if it happens to you there’s no need to panic. Read on to learn how to recognize when your new dental implant needs additional work.
- Oral SurgeryIt's happened. The day has come when your dentist informs you oral surgery is required to resolve the problem you're experiencing in your mouth. You've never had more than a filling before, and the idea of a surgical procedure is daunting. Here are some common procedures oral surgeons perform, and what you can expect if you're in line for any of them.
- Jaw SurgeryAny form of oral surgery requires a recovery period, during which you may be limited to certain types or consistencies of food or methods of taking in nutrition. A surgical extraction will likely only require some over-the-counter pain medication, while double jaw surgery patients might need stronger prescription painkillers. During the recovery period, it's important to follow the instructions of your oral surgeon, and to contact your dentist if you have any questions or concerns. Don't wait until an oral infection develops or complications occur. Call your dentist as soon as you notice anything out of the ordinary.
- Tooth ExtractionsA common dental surgery is tooth extraction, which is usually necessary to resolve disease, trauma or an overcrowded mouth. Teeth that are visible above the gumline and can be pulled with forceps are usually removed by a simple extraction. You may undergo a surgical extraction when bone or tissue must be cut to remove the tooth. Surgical extractions typically also require stitches to close the wound. Wisdom teeth can be particularly stubborn to remove, and often by the time they are surgically removed they may be half erupted or they may be impacted.
