- Zoo Atlanta was founded in 1889, when businessman George V. Gress purchased a bankrupt traveling circus and donated the animals to the city of Atlanta. Today the zoo is one of four zoos in the country housing Giant Pandas and has Wild life Education, Research and Conservation Programs. Admission Rates: Adults $22.99 + tax, Children (3-11) $17.99 + tax, Senior Citizen (65+) $18.99 + tax, Military and College Student discounts available, $119 Family Membership, $99 Companion Membership
