To receive designation for those specialties, hospitals must demonstrate compliance to the state rule. Patient care standards must follow national evidenced-based standards. Verification surveys evaluate that they meet certain standards for caring for babies and mothers based on their designation level. Surveys document whether the hospital has met the criteria
