Established in 1982, The Michigan Dyslexia Institute is a nonprofit organization that serves children and adults suffering with dyslexia throughout Michigan. Based in Berkley, Mich., the community provides with direct remedial reading instruction, teacher training and public information. It also offers Camp Starlight, a camp specifically for children with dyslexia. The Michigan Dyslexia Institute (MDI), through its six centers, is a main provider of one-on-one remedial reading instruction to children and adults with dyslexia in Michigan. It participates in cooperative programs with state agencies, private business, literacy groups, public and private schools.
