After reading these reviews I decided I needed to find out for myself what kind of business D & J was, well I am happy to report that a handfull of people are never happy and I am glad I did not go with the flow on this one. Yes their message is long but it is informative (I did not need to talk with anyone on the phone), I went in to drop off my mower and was delighted to find a friendly gal at the counter who greeted the guy in front of me by name, when she was able to help she was just as kind willing to take the time to not only listen but educate. She got some help from one of the guys to unload my machine in which they were kind and listened to my concerns offered suggestions. It was not long after that I received a call informing me of the problems and giving me a few options, the machine was done and back to me in a timely fashion though the bill was a little higher than the estimate they thought, I kept in mind it was just that an estimate. I have had my mower back for a couple of weeks and it has never worked better.

Maybe the problem with te people who complain is they failed to show respect therefore making it hard to receive respect, just a thought when someone is rude they rarely get kindness in return and in most of these reviews all a person can hear is RUDE!

I will be coming back time and time again. I hope I can become one of their customers they know by name, what a great feeling to go into a business where you are greeted by name, with a smile.

Customer service is the lowest...

Customer service is the lowest level I ever experienced. I ordered a part for my lawn mower. They told me it would be it would be there at the end of the week. The Wednesday the next week I called and asked why it wasn't there. They said they didn't know. I asked them when. There was no attempt to find out. I told them that was not good enough and I was getting the part somewhere else. They would not refund my money and the part ( a call back to me later that day) would not ship until a month after ordering. They were getting the part from Toro. Toro has a refund policy that you you can return the part 30 days after it is received yet they say they can't cancel the order. Does this make sense. I called Toro. They say the part is available and they do not understand why D&J small engines says it is not available. And, they can't understand why D&J engines will not refund my money. Like I said, customer service the lowest level I have ever and probably will ever experience. I ordered the part directly from Toro. Got the part next day. Of course I had to pay next day shipping.

This is the worst customer ser...

This is the worst customer service I have ever received. They were a week out to pick up our lawnmower, and then said "we'll get to it when we get to it" for a time estimation on the repair. Uh, it is the middle of summer and I need my lawnmower back!! The front counter girl was rude over the phone and too incompetent to even write up the work order. They have a two minute message on their phone before you can even talk or leave a message. Everything about this company says "We don't want your business". In fact, when I finally dropped off the mower, it was 10 minutes before quitting time and they nearly refused to take it, telling me they were closed. I was hung up on on the phone multiples times, and then the lady started a fight with me about whether I told her it was a warranty repair or not. Which I did when I dropped it off, trying to give her the paperwork and she insisted she didn't need it. Then she argued with me over the phone telling me I didn't tell her and the paperwork had to be filled out differently because it was a warranty. Then again, she hung up on me. Finally, I went and picked up the mower without getting it fixed. These employees are abusive to customers!!

Sorry that you had a problem but we do work very hard to take care of all of our customers. The phone system is an automated system and we try toshare the info that most of our customer are looking for in the mesage to save them time. We would like to ask you to give us another try

BEWARE! This company completel...

BEWARE! This company completely lacks customer service, professionalism, AND ethics. I requested and paid for a DIAGNOSIS on my mower, but they never called to tell me what that was or to get authorization to do any further work. Subsequently, they misdiagnosed the problem and charged me for parts it did not need. When I insisted they look at it again, they did find the actual problem which they promised they would not charge labor for installing. They did take the unnecessary parts off the bill after arguing with them for three days, but then charged me the labor for everything including a rebuild of the carburetor which was not needed. In terms of customer service, these guys don't listen to anything you tell them and get very angry when you question their diagnosis or methods. When I complained, the owner twice referred to me derogatorily as the south end of north bound animal. Then because of my "attitude" I was required to ransom my mower with cash only. I can't say it in strong enough words, STAY WELL CLEAR of them!!!

First of all, I am a long time...

First of all, I am a long time returning customer, 7+ years. They all of a sudden starting requiring a deposit up front, which is understandable, and applies toward your repairs should you choose to have them done.



Then they did not call to allow me to authorize the repairs,



Then they do not call to notify of it being done. When I finally called, they tell me they have called several times, 5 to be exact and that includes 2 return calls from my complaint. They tell me they have 2 numbers (I only gave them one as I only have one).



Then they tell me how gracious they are in waiving a "storage fee" of 5.00 per day for over a month when THEY were calling the wrong number!!!



Finally, when I do go to pick up the trimmer at 80.00+ they say we can't take you check...What, I have been writing checks here for years?!?!!?? Nope can't it.



I pride myself on trying to support the businesses in my immediate neighborhood, but I will drive across Boise to have someone else do my repairs. I have bought lawn equipment at DJ's but will buy all my future equipment elsewhere form now on.



DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE ARROGANT PEOPLE!!!!

We are sorry for the mix up on the phone numbers but the one that was on the check in paper work was incorrect and aperantly the one in our computer was also incorrect but we did try to contact you. As for the checks we have not taken checks for 3 years that is just the way thing have change over the years not that you have done anything wrong. We would like for you to give us another chance

Too bad I can not give a negat...

Too bad I can not give a negative 400 stars! Bad place stay away! They ripped my senior citizen parents off for 175 bucks and never did get the lawn mower fixed. I went to talk to them about the issue and got nothing but attitude! Do yourself a favor and NEVER, EVER use this place. You'll be sorry if you do!



VERN IS RIGHT! Look online the bad outweights to good!

Boise Best Little Secret

I could not beleive the terrific service I received at D & J Small Engines. I would recommend D & J to anyone where else do you get to talk with the staff, including the owner. Considering it is spring I could not beleive it whenI had my equipment back in just about a week. Great job guys, and service with a smile.



I am glad I did not follow Verns miss leading information. Just goes to show one persons opinion is not everything.

BUYER BEWARE

Services and prices misrepresented. When I complained about substandard repair work being done - they denied it and tried to send me packing. Overpriced and misleading sales pitches. Unscrupulous business practices used here. BUYER BEWARE !!!###Don't have anything you own repaired at this establishment!!
