Love Alamo. Although in Boston would be great to use the kiosk but I guess you can't if you are e a Boston resident
I usually rent from National, but I am starting to wonder if I should continue. I usually get an economy or midsize. There don't appear to be back-up cameras in these cars and for the past 5 rentals, I have not had a car that has a USB port. These would seem to be basic for any car today. Renting in Boston has it's own challenges, notably getting to the rental center, but nothing that can't be dealt with.
Alamo has been our go-to rental agency for about 3 years now. The cars are clean, the prices are truly competitive and the customer service is great, from the rental desk to the pickup and drop-off areas. Quality automobiles are always available - Nissan Altima, Mazda3, etc. We also take advantage of being an Alamo Insider, which essentially means a free upgrade is always possible. Keep up the good work
National Car Rental Review. Car was very comfortable, gas millage was good and I had no problems with the car. Very happy.I did rent a GPS from National. The GPS did not know where National return was and routed me through the tunnel from various locations three times. Wasted an hour and caused extreme frustration. The GPS worked best when I turned it off and left it off.Jack
This review is about Alamo Rental Cars.I chose Alamo based on prior good experience with them at Logan. I got a last-minute deal on a small SUV such as a Toyota Rave, with a second driver free. When we arrived at the Alamo desk, the very grumpy person behind the counter told us we would have to pay extra per day for the second driver and I would have to prove to him the second driver free offer. Unfortunately I did not have paper work with me to show him and he was not willing to look up my account information. So we paid the extra because it was close to 11:00 pm and we still had a ways to go to our hotel. When we got to the car area, we were met by a very harried young man who seemed to be in charge of all late night customers. He looked at our paperwork and said, "Here, take this one" and ushered us into a jeep that was sitting nearby. He had no time for us to show us anything about the car or to give any directions. He told us to google it. When we needed to charge our phone while driving, it took a lot of searching before we were able to locate the plug inside the glove compartment. The jeep was hard to see traffic from and made us very uncomfortable driving in Boston. I would never have chosen it as our vehicle if I had known it was one of the choices. I really miss the very nice people at Alamo who helped us on our last visit to Boston 3 years ago. For that visit we also had requested a small SUV or minivan and had a very nice vehicle. My advice: Check everything very carefully on your contract and your vehicle before driving away. Be sure you have a copy of your reservation with you - not just a reservation number.
We were greeted by an Alamo employee who reviewed our paperwork and then gave us directions to our destination. He then turned us (my wife and I) over to an employee who took us to get a car. He returned with a Kia Sorento (our plan was to return the car at the Detroit airport, so needed a nice car for our travels). The car was just washed, clean throughout, and he helped us load our luggage. I again asked for directions (since I was unfamiliar with the route to our destination); he very helpfully gave us directions that turned out to be perfect. We left the auto center and made it to our destination, which was an hour away. The Kia Sorento was an excellent ride. I had never driven a Kia before but I would highly recommend the Kia after 1360 miles. This was my first time with Alamo but will not be my last.
Fast, efficient staff and overall great travel experience.
