- Established in 1976, The California Conservation Corps is one of the largest organizations of its kind in the United States. It focuses on the protection and restoration of the environment in the State of California. The organization hires more than 3,000 members between the ages of 18 and 25 annually. It maintains over 25 locations throughout California and assist in natural resource conservation and emergency response activities. The California Conservation Corps also works for nearly 250 local, state and federal agencies and generates approximately $26 million in funds annually. In addition, the organization administers the AmeriCorps Recovery Program in collaboration with other nonprofit institutions.
