Reminds me of a 70's restaurant, dim/dark (atmosphere lighting), red pleather booths, candle light and a surf and turf menu. Their steaks are cooked to perfection, love their king crab (best in town). Service is great and so are their prices.

Three words: TOTAL DIVE BAR

I cannot believe that this restaurant is getting 5-star reviews on Yelp! I can only assume the reviewers work there, or were paid to put in their reviews. I took my husband to this dump for his birthday and was mortified. Walking in the door (which is right on the busy street), the restaurant was DARK. Not a great sign. They seated us right at the door so that every time it opened, we were struck with the outside light and noise from the street. We had a wonderful view of the drunks bellied up to the single stretch of bar, obvious regulars. The food was HORRIBLE and even the margaritas were HORRIBLE! The worst I have ever experienced. I didn't think it was possible to go THAT wrong with a margarita, but I was horribly mistaken. They served this very particular bread that was marbled light and dark and had cranberries or raisins in it (it was gross). That bread was in a basket on the table, served with my husband's meal, and chopped into squares for "croutons" on my salad. (I had asked for no croutons.) The lowwww-caliber of the place had me feeling that my "croutons" were likely collected from bussed tables. The staff was surly and hard, the likes you'd expect to find in a dive bar. The whole time we were sitting there, I was hoping we weren't contracting something, or being bit by sommething under the table. An absolutely disgusting experience, across the board. Yelp should provide a rating scale that runs into the negative, like minus 4800 stars, for places like Kokos.

Love ko ko beach for their dinners. Prime rib barbacue beef bones, crisp salads and warm bread priced very reasonably. Drinks reasonable not fancy place but darn good regular food for the price. Where else can you eat a dinner from 8-12 dollars. Try their early bird dinners to save even more

We (4 adults and one small child) had wonderful service and excellent dinners. Two of us had the prime rib, two had the sea bass special, and the child had chicken from the child's menu. Her meal, at $4.95, would have been enough for me, but I was busy powering thru a large piece of beautifully cooked fish. The prime rib eaters were equally happy. We were there on a Thursday night at 6pm and the place was full. There was a nice selection of wines by the bottle and unlike most of Carlsbad, very reasonably priced. Yes, the interior is dark and kind of retro, but so what? I thought it was part of the charm of the place, and it is certainly well loved by the locals. We will definitely go there again, the next time we are in Carlsbad.

SUPER YUM-O-LISHIOUS! North county's place for prime rib, my NEW place for prime rib went this last friday night. It was packed and the bar was full. This is not a nuevo, avante garde steak house. What it is a local friendly quaint restaurant with quality food! good quality food. Everything on the others dinners table looked great, especially the crab- ill review that another time. Had: crab stuffed mushrooms, full cut prime rib, with steak fries, french onion soup, salad with blue cheese, every thing was great. The service prompt and timely food hot and cooked spot on! The crab in the mushrooms was sweet and flavorable. the primerib was mild smooth, soft and buttery! Horse radish creamed sauce was strong and creamy without being obnoxious. Asked for the fries xtra crispy and they came as expected - terriffic! 2 prime rib dinners appetizer, soup, sallad and table bread 45.00. I brought home 12oz of prime rib b/c i was so stuffed!
