      When entering the simple, clean, diner-like environment, one wouldn't expect to be served gourmet cuisine. But at Jeffrey's Grill and Catering, you can expect the unexpected. Owner and chef Jeffrey Thompson and his friendly staff serve fresh, inventive cuisine in an informal environment whether you are at the Carmel Valley, California restuarant located at 112 Mid Valley Center ( on Carmel Valley Rd ) or a catering location of your choice around the Monterey Peninsula. Jeffrey describes the food as "American eclectic." "I want to offer things that no one else is doing" he says. "Everything is light and fresh. I don't open any cans except olive oil. We grind all our own spices and use only fresh herbs." And all this quality comes at a surprisingly moderate price. The restaurant, open for breakfast and lunch, is a friendly, family-oriented establishment. Now in its eighteenth year of operation, many of the staff have worked there for years. Jeffrey's abides by the old fashioned country service ethic where you are made to feel part of the family and special requests are encouraged. The restaurant is also dog-friendly. There is enclosed, heated outdoor dining and other outside tables where your pet can join you for a meal. The sun is often shining in Carmel Valley, even when there is fog elsewhere, so you may also enjoy a meal at one of the outdoor tables while enjoying the beautiful surrounding scenery and sunshine. Besides the restaurant, Jeffrey operates a full-service Catering business for just about any special occasion from two people to 500. Every occasion is different and Jeffrey and his staff are always up for a creative way to cater your event. Weddings, rehearsal dinners, graduations, parties and picnics are just a few of the occasions which can be enlivened by Jeffrey's cheerful staff, family oriented service and sumptuously delicious food. Jeffrey's can provide catering services at many beautiful locations in the Monterey peninsula area, or, parties of up to 60 people can be held at the restuarant in the evenings. To cater your own event, you can also order an array of tasty entrees and pick them up yourself at the restaurant, just bring your dish. Jeffrey calls this the "Secret Chef ". The restuarant offers a full "grill to go" menu as well. Jeffrey has also created a line of delicious and healthy snack-foods which he calls "Pecans Plus, " and they are available for purchase at the restuarant and other locations. These special recipes created by Jeffrey include sweet and spicy almonds, pecans and a hearty granola mix.
