After reading these negative reviews, wow! Didn't change my mind in the least for making another appointment with him. I have never had a bad experience since I've been going. I think the problem is with the negative people leaving the bad reviews. You can't please everyone.

I have NEVER been treated SO rudely as I was by an optician (Mary) in my ENTIRE life. I was belittled, talked down to, and humiliated by an arrogant, pathetic know it all, woman. This is the SECOND time I've been treated that way at your vision center. I will NEVER return. They show no respect for the customer having HALF a brain. To get in between a conversation I was having with my husband and cutting me off and attempting to correct what I was saying and she didn't even know what I was going to say. This happened over and over. I then I got an in-depth explanation of what we were discussing to the point, she viewed me as a 3 year old. I had to walk out and walk around the store just to calm down. I am a regular Walmart shopper, but will not be using the Vision Center again. As far as I'm concerned, they're flunkies. People skills are SO important when working with the GENERAL PUBLIC.

"As good as it gets" describes both my experience with this practice, and Dr. Poovey himself. I have been in to his office twice now for yearly eye exams, and I have been so impressed with his level of professionalism and knowledge. His expertise is absolutely top notch, and he's got to be a genius at multi-tasking, because he is paying strict attention to every little thing about your vision, and at the same time, he can be chatting with you about some other topic entirely. I saw him primarily for contact lenses, and the RX was just perfect. And I have some complicating factors in my vision correction: astigmatism and multifocal requirements, which makes it a little tricky to get right, but as I stated, he's an expert at getting it right the first time. The office is clean and no-frills, but the reasonable cost of care and the quality would be very tough to beat. To add to this, he's a great guy-- really affable. Mornings are best for shortest wait time, late afternoons seem busiest.

Dr Poovey is awesome. Was refered to him by a co-worker. He put my wife in several differnent brands of contacts until she found some that worked great for her. He has be the only one that has been able to find some that work with her sensitve eyes. Took a few weeks of trial and error, but I was only charged for the one contact eye exam. His prices are affordable. He don't take any insurance (due to he'd have to charge more in general believe it or not. Got to love insurance companies.)but will help you file paperwork for you to be reinbursed if you have it. I have to say though I spend the same cost with him without insurance as what my exam would have been at my insurance approved Dr. and he is diffently better so I just dropped vision completely (saving me the cost of what i pay him anyway.) and I get to go to who I want and advoid the headache of claims or going to a worse doctor. I recomend him to everyone, and will never go anywhere else.

He is a good Dr. very nice and talkative but even if you have an appointment expect to wait a long time!

I have gone to Dr Poovey in excess of 20 years. I have moved away from him several times due to insurance, but I always end up coming back. I no longer care what my insurance company says, I will go no where else. Time to get an appointment, wait time and his care for his patients is not matched by anyone! Definitely the place to have your eyes taken care of !!!!

Very kind and professional. I went last year for a prescription. 3 months after my checkup, my vision got worse so I went for another checkup and Dr Poovey did not charge me anything!!A lot better than other greedy doctors.I highly recommend him!

The other review is way off the mark. This doctor has been in this area for over 20 years, and I've seen him many times; he is helpful, informative, and more than anxious to make adjustments when necessary. In addition, his prices are extremely reasonable for the area. I'd highly recommend him to anyone.

I like Dr. Poovey and have seen him several times. He has steered me towards a more comfortable type of contact lens than I had previously worn, even though I was resistant to the change at first. He gets the job done quickly with minimal waiting, and has always been pleasant and friendly.

Do not visit this doctor! Awful experience! I would have given no stars, but that's not an option. Gave no information about exam, prescribed the wrong eyeglass prescription and then when confronted, he refused to correct it! I will never go back here again!
