- Kitchen RemodelingThis kitchen remodeling project in Shaker Heights, Ohio was part of an extensive whole-house remodel that had an expansive goal set, plus some unusual challenges. In particular, the difficult to articulate interior design theme for the combined kitchen/dining room places this space squarely into the not-so-Shaker, non-conformist arena. The wife and husband, both avid and adventuresome cooks, craved a visually stimulating kitchen where they could easily cook great meals, plus comfortably hang out for extended periods of time with family, friends, and their ever-evolving cast of canines.
- Bathroom RemodelingIn the primary cooking area the low window sills called for separate cabinet/counter spaces on each wall, but also added a level of openness that the space would not have otherwise had. The open spaces left and right of the cook center allow for guests (or dogs!) to be in the kitchen without being in the way. And since the kitchen dimensions weren’t sufficient to meet National Kitchen & Bath (NKBA) design guidelines for an island, a mobile island cart was designed and built instead. The homeowners now have the benefit of extra prep space near the range, but can also move the island cart under the peninsula counter when there is a need to open up floor space in the kitchen.
- FlooringDetermining why only this section of the basement flooded; sourcing cost-effective flooring that was rated for a damp area but also capable of abuse; leveling the concrete floor in order to meet flooring specs while still keeping the high ceiling; installing structural blocking without damaging the foundation walls.
- Basement RemodelingThis basement remodeling project in Shaker Heights, Ohio was part of an extensive whole-house remodel that also included a nearly 3-story tall addition, outdoor living space, kitchen/dining room combo, living room, den, dining room, retrofitting whole-house air conditioning, and more.

- Skylight Repair/Replacement"We are repeat customers of Karlovec & Company. We know what to expect in terms of quality of service and product. I can't tell you how many times I've walked into our kitchen (and now our finished basement workout room) and have had aaaah moments - as in "Thank God we did this project with Jim." No buyer's remorse here. On our prior home, we went with the low bidder for a major renovation. Trust me we cursed every time we went into the master bedroom to leaky skylights, roof, etc.. Been there- done that- we learned our lesson."

- Window Installation/ReplacementThis list measures customer satisfaction regarding specific projects on attributes ranging from trust, quality of workmanship, and value to budget, sales knowledge, and professionalism. The ratings are weighted based on project, so, for example, a kitchen remodel places higher value on cleanliness, while a window replacement job looks at price and speed as more important qualities.
- MasonryIn this Shaker Heights, Ohio historic home restoration project we completed a full assessment of exterior and interior issues throughout the front entry and main stairs turret. The assessment, and subsequent restoration, included replacement of the wood shingle roof, radius gutter, stucco and masonry repair, rebuilding of stained glass windows, repair of the front door entry system, painting and more. After making the exterior water tight and completing historically accurate repairs, we then completed interior, large scale plaster repairs which included matching the original texture, tile restoration and painting. The half bath below the stairs was also remodeled and, in order to improve usability of the bathroom, the toilet was repositioned which was done without damaging the original tile.
