- Space MaintainersSpace maintainers are used to prevent the misalignment of the jaw caused by missing teeth in children. Normal tooth loss by children do not require space maintainers. However, sometimes unusual tooth loss or congenital deformities require appliances that allow new teeth time to move into place.
- VeneersWhen the bite is misaligned, it means that the upper teeth and bottom teeth are not hitting evenly. The result is that some teeth bear too much of the pressure that comes from eating or grinding your teeth at night. Those teeth with too much pressure wear out faster as we age. And this process accelerates once we start losing teeth. Restored teeth via techniques such as bridges, crowns, veneers are unable to “carry their weight” when it comes to supporting surrounding teeth. As a result, having restored teeth puts extra strain on the remaining healthy teeth. The consequence is that the remaining teeth wear even faster leading to additional premature tooth loss. However, having a properly aligned bite will distribute the chewing pressure evenly throughout the mouth which enables your teeth to last longer.
- CrownsFortunately, it is not too late to have your bite aligned even if you already have restorative dental work like crowns and bridges. In fact, a growing part of orthodontics is using orthodontic techniques to extend the life of the remaining healthy teeth by making sure that the bite pressure is evenly distributed across all of your teeth in your mouth. The result will be that your remaining healthy teeth will be more likely to last longer than if your bite remained misaligned.

- Restorative Dentistry
- Dental ImplantsDr. Cordray is pioneering new ways to help patients keep their teeth longer when they are dealing with implants, crowns, bridges or other “restorative” teeth issues. The unfortunate reality is that having a crown or bridge puts extra wear and pressure on the remaining teeth which shortens their life span. Fortunately, Dr. Cordray is working with experts in restorative dentistry to develop new methods and techniques to utilize in orthodontia to extend the life of healthy teeth when a patient has multiple restorations / a crown or bridge.
- Oral Surgery
- Jaw SurgeryThe fees for orthodontic treatment do not include any treatment in any other dental offices such as cleaning, examinations, x-rays, restorations, the removal of teeth, gum surgery, or jaw surgery. We strongly urge our patients to visit their family dentist at least every 6 months for routine check-ups. Adult patients may with to visit more ofter; we advise every 3 to 4 months.
- Gum Surgery
- OrthodonticsAlso, I was fortunate that while I was still in high school a professor in the Department of Orthodontics took an interest in me (he was my Orthodontist). He helped me understand what great Orthodontics could be.
- Invisalign OrthodonticsWe are certified by Align Technology to provide Invisalign orthodontic treatment. One of the reasons that I have been reluctant to embrace the technique is that since its inception clear aligner therapy has had some issues with both certain kinds of tooth movements and overall occlusal finishing, which resulted in longer treatment times and lacklustre smiles. However, I feel that today we have the ability and expertise to overcome some of the problems that have plagued the technique in the past regarding both speed of treatment and accuracy of correction.
- BracesWith graduation soon approaching, I have spent the last few months gathering and sorting pictures of my son B. I couldn’t help but to reflect on his achievements and accomplishments before and after his braces. The beautiful smile you created for B enabled him to have the self-confidence to step into many leadership roles. During his four years of high school he was involved in numerous school activities that required addressing large groups of people. I know that part of the confidence and self-esteem he needed to be successful in these roles came, in large part, from feeling good about his smile.
