The State of Iowa offers a range of community-based services to a population of more than 3 million citizens. It administers technology, public safety, business and economic development, and health and human service departments. The state provides patrol solutions for over 111,000 miles of roadways through its department of public safety. It also administers transportation, agriculture and education departments. The state exports tractors, pork and corn for markets in Canada, Mexico and Japan. The University of Iowa and Iowa State University are among several schools of higher education. There are more than 70 state parks and recreational venues in Iowa that offer fishing, hunting, hiking, camping and bicycling options. Iowa has a variety of museums, such as the American Gothic House in Eldon and the Salisbury House in Des Moines, which represent Iowa s art and history.
