Founded in 1953, the Iowa Public Employees Retirement System, also known as IPERS, is an agency operated by the government of the city of Des Moines, Iowa. The agency provides retirement plans to government employees. It offers financial assistance services to members' beneficiaries. The Iowa Public Employees Retirement System also provides training and retirement planning services. The agency offers return-to-work and death benefit programs and serves more than 300,000 members.
