Our Promise: To save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find cures.

General Info
ancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. We are the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. In 1998, it was decided that Evansville needed to be a part of this great search for a cure for breast cancer. That year over 5,000 people turned out for the first Greater Evansville Race for the Cure. Since then, we haven't looked back. With over 15,500 people attending the 2010 Race for the Cure, the Greater Evansville community is doing their part in the search for a cure for breast cancer. The Greater Evansville Affiliate services 28 counties in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky to provide breast health education, screening mammograms, diagnostic services and breast cancer treatment to men and women who are either uninsured or underinsured. If someone you know is in need of help, call the Greater Evansville Affiliate office at 812.962.2202 or toll-free at 866.566.3620.
