      The Handsmiths, formed in 2009, are a hand percussion group comprised of three members: Richard Kranich, Khalil Azzar, and El Mehdi Rhanime. Coming from the DMV (D.C.,Maryland, Virginia) area, the Handsmiths took the DC night life scene by storm performing at many illustrious venues such as, The Park, K Street Lounge, District, and Eden to name a few. The group specializes in culminating the traditional music and rhythms from all over the world and fusing them with modern music. The Handsmiths high energy, fast playing, and exciting showmanship propelled them from doing small, private parties to playing events at the top of the DC nightlife scene. The Handsmiths have performed at high-profile events such as the opening of the Garden of Eden roof top Lounge, The Backstreet Boys concert after party with the Backstreet Boys, The Capital Skyline pool party, the Palm Beach Tan Bikini Contest, 7 Deadly Sins Hustlers Fashion Show, and the opening of the back patio of The Park at Fourteenth. The instrumentation that the Handsmiths perform with are generally, but not limited to, Congas, the Mediterranean Darabuka or Dumbek, and the Djembe. Each member of the group has a different particular musical upbringing witch gives the group its unique sound. The versatility of The Handsmiths have also allowed them to perform at events such as traditional Arabic and Persian weddings, art showings, yoga clinics and demonstrations, dance demonstrations, and cultural drum demonstrations and performances. With the experience of performing at such a broad variety of venues and occasions, the Handsmiths are capable of providing an entertaining, exciting, and electrifying performance, unmatched by any other percussion group.
