I can't say enough about this store. They are clean, organized and always have a great selection. I almost ALWAYS find what I'm looking for and at a very good price. This store pretty much supplies outfits for all three of my kids for every holiday. Halloween costumes, easter outfits and christmas outfits. It is great. Also, when my kids deserve a new toy or something for good behavior, we always go there. They lobve looking through all of the different toys and always find something really great for a fraction of the price!! They also like picking out books, which most are around a dollar. I am actually headed there now because they are having a 75% off clearance sale, making most baby sleepers only .87!! Can't beat that!

I can't even begin to describe how dissapointed I am in the Fairview Heights location. I have always had great luck finding things at the store for my daughter, but I have tried multiple separate times to bring my daughter's old clothes in there to see if I could get some money for them. The very fist time I was told that the store was on a "buying freeze" due to too much stock and that only store credit was being offered. The girl informed me that I should call back later in the week to see if they were offering cash for the clothes yet. The next time, I called ahead and they said they were offering cash and to bring the items in and they would look at them. We loaded some tubs of clothes into the car and got there a few hours later after doing other errands and were told they were only offering store credit and whoever I talked to was wrong. This morning, I called less than ten minutes after the store opened and was informed that they were offering cash and that I should come in soon to have someone look at the items. My wife and daughter and I got ready, loaded the tubs in the car again and drove to Fairview Heights, only to be told yet again that the store was only offering store credit and they had already "bought all they were allowed to buy for the day" in the 25 minutes it took to get to the store.

This store is an absolute joke. The employees need to all get on the same page as to whether or not the store is buying clothing or not before people waste their gas money to drive out there only to be told the exact opposite of whoever answered the phone said. I could understand if this was an isolated incident, but 3 times in a 2 week period? How many other people does this happen to? I think the idea of the store is a great business model and great idea, but the store is so poorly run I will never be back with any of mine or my friends' business at this loacation.

Thanks for nothing

I got on the Yellow Pages website to find the number for the Once Upon a Child in Fairview Heights, IL. Yellow Pages was great, found the number. I called the store to see how late they were open. The lady on the phone was polite and told me that if I was bringing items in to sell I needed to get there 2 hours before close. I hurried with my toddler and got to the store at the specified time. I get there and ask if I can still bring the few items I have in to sell, just to be told that they decided to stop buying early that day.

I live an hour away from Fairview. So I rushed, spent gas money I could have saved, just to drive an hour away to get turned away and drive another hour home with toys and a bag of clothes still in the back of my SUV... I explained all this to the cashier and told her I even called before I made the HOUR trip. "Come back during the week, be here by 5:15 during the week to sell because we close at 7." I work everyday til 4... So what? Am I suppose to spend more money in gas and drive back here just to have you guys tell me that you decided to stop buying early again?! Screw that.

Not to mention that I looked around and stuff was priced the same as Walmart or a little bit higher. FOR SECOND HAND?! Why would I want to pay $14.99 for a potty when I can get one BRAND NEW at Walmart for $12.99?!!

Don't tell people to be at your business at a certain time just to turn them away. I met my end of the deal, I got there at 3. So how fair is it to customers that you can just stop buying when people may be traveling from just further than in city limits....

Bargains for Children....

This is the place to shop for families who may be on a small budget and still be able to afford name brand clothes for their children. The store is clean and the cashiers are very helpful in assisting customers find clothes for infants through tweens.
