General Info
Dr. Frye is a native of the metro Detroit area. She earned her bachelor's degree with Honors from the Honors College at Michigan State University and is a graduate of the prestigious MSU Medical Scholars (BS/MD) Program. She completed medical school at Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine, where she was awarded the Brian Burke Award for exhibiting ``Outstanding Promise in Pediatrics``. Dr. Frye stayed true to her Spartan roots by completing her residency in pediatrics at Michigan State University & Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. As a resident, she was selected by medical students for the MSU-CHM Outstanding Resident Faculty Award in recognition of her dedication and enthusiasm for medical education. After residency, she went on to fellowship training in Non-Operative Pediatric Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago (a teaching hospital affiliated with Northwestern University). Upon completion of her training, she worked as a pediatric orthopedist & sports medicine physician in Pennsylvania for 2 years. She returned to Michigan in 2013 and has been excited to build her practice serving the children of the mid-Michigan, Flint & metro Detroit areas. Dr. Frye's interest in pediatric sports medicine and orthopedics comes from her own experience playing sports growing up. She played softball, volleyball, basketball and crew. As a catcher and first baseman, she was awarded All-State honors in softball twice during high school. She understands the demands of year-round competition due to extensive travel team participation & competing at the collegiate level. Dr. Frye is proud to bring a unique perspective to her practice in that she understands the role of health & fitness from the student-athlete's perspective, the physician's perspective, and now the parent's perspective as well. She is board certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), as well as a member of the AAP Council on Sports Medicine & Fitness and the AAP Section on Orthopedics. She is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM), American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and the Ponseti International Association. She is also an advocate for the STOP Sports Injuries campaign. Her clinical interests include overuse athletic injuries, fracture care, concussion, and Ponseti management of clubfeet. She has completed extensive training in concussion evaluation and management and is recognized as a Credentialed ImPACT Consultant (CIC), distinguishing her as a local expert in concussion management and computerized neurocognitive (ImPACT) testing. Dr. Frye has also completed advanced training in Ponseti casting & management of clubfeet at the University of Iowa. She is a member of Ponseti International. Dr. Frye has been recognized for clinical excellence by various organizations, including being named to the 2015-2019 Best Doctors in Michigan List by MetroParent Magazine and beingnominated for the 2015Health Professional Hero Award by the Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the teaching faculty in both the Pediatrics & Human Development and Family Medicine Departmentsat Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine. She also is the author of numerous publications including contributions to peer-reviewed medical journals and medical textbooks. She has most recently authored articles on medical care of the student-athlete, performance-enhancing practices by young student-athletes, and theuse of opioid medications for athletic injuries. Dr. Frye is proud to havepresented her clinical research atthe national and international levels.
