We talked to several landscape contractors prior to revamping our back yard. Schmitz' design team far exceeded the others. We are very pleased with the outcome of our back yard paradise.

I purchased some plants that a lady working at the garden center told me would grow great on the Southwest side of my home. Well, apparently she didn't know her plants because I found out through a competitor down the road from them that the plants were shade loving, not sun loving as she stated. The plants here are more expensive and the service stinks so beware when you ask for advice.

Schmitz Garden Center started up a lawn maintenance service about a year ago and I signed a "full service" contract with them which included trimming hedges, weeding, etc. The crew did a good job at the beginning, but now I have to say things went down hill fast. My grass is not thick, there are weeds in the yard which I've complained about and the customer service is terrible. They do not follow up with a phone call or email when I've expressed concerns on my lawn. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL!!!!! Also, they are slow at coming out to trim hedges and do not weed at all each time they come out to mow like it states in their contract. You end up paying for a lot of services that you just don't get.

I'm all for giving local companies my business when they return the favor with great service. Schmitz definately delivers. The cost a little more, but they are so helpful and go so far above and beyond, you realize what you are paying for. It's so hit or miss at Home Depot or Lowes, it's not worth the extra drive. These guys are right by my house. Thanks again Schmitz! Oh, and why a four rating? They don't carry turf. I need St. Augustine plugs/sod every year and they don't carry them, forcing me to go elsewhere. That's all though. Only complaint. Lastly, don't forget to ask about the "clearance" pile in the back :)
