We were searching for a "real" german restaurant in the greater Washington DC area... with no good luck (taste) for years. Then we received a hint: the Bavarian Chef in Fredericksburg, VA. We recently drove down, without having a reservation (their website suggests one). The Restaurant was easy to find, easy parking (important!) available, and we got seated right away (must say we did not arrive at "rush-hour"). The former Rail-Station has been nicely turned into a Restaurant, nice ambiance, tablecloths, a "german feel". OK, the Menu is not cheap, but the order is plenty and the food tastes great! It's german with a new modern touch, but "Sehr Gut". Unusual for a "German Restaurant" is the basket of bread you will receive with your order - not so in Germany. All in all, it was worth the drive and we will be back - and we'll recommend!
