Dr. Philip Chang, MD, FHRS, FACC is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine and Director of the Pediatric and Congenital Heart Electrophysiology Program at the UF Congenital Heart Center and Shands Children'??s Hospital.Following completion of his pediatric residency and general cardiology fellowship training at Children'??s Hospital Los Angeles, Dr. Chang completed advanced fellowship training in pediatric electrophysiology at The Children'??s Hospital of Philadelphia. Thereafter, he joined faculty at the University of Southern California (USC) and the Keck School of Medicine where he was the Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Care Program at USC and worked as both a pediatric and adult electrophysiologist at Keck Medical Center of USC, LA County + USC Medical Center, and Children'??s Hospital Los Angeles before coming to UF/Shands in 2017.Dr. Chang has extensive experience in all aspects of clinical and invasive electrophysiology, with strong emphases on complex ablation and cardiac implantable device procedures and their applications in patients with congenital heart disease. As a clinical researcher, he served as site principal investigator or co-investigator on a number of studies involving cardiac resynchronization therapy, subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator implantation and follow-up, and leadless cardiac pacing. He was among the first pediatric electrophysiologists to implant the subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator and the first pediatric electrophysiologist to implant the Nanostim leadless pacemaker as a site co-investigator in the Leadless II trial.His current clinical and research interests include complex ablation of arrhythmias in adult patients with congenital heart disease, novel techniques and technologies in cardiac implantable devices, complex lead extraction, and strategies for risk stratification of sudden death in patients with congenital heart disease. He is a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society and the American College of Cardiology and board certified in pediatric cardiology and adult congenital heart disease.
