Staying at the Dude Ranch Resort means luxurious clean comfort! No chain-link or cinder block allowed inside the facility! Only the highest quality construction for the safest, most luxurious and comfortable facilities possible! Your choice of a Deluxe Villa or Luxury Suite; 100% INDOORS! The whole facility is fully heated & cooled and the air is continuously filtered and changed for health and comfort! We are staffed 7x24. That means there is ALWAYS someone on-site WORKING at the resort! Our Front Desk is open from 9a to 7p Monday through Saturday, and 12p to 5p Sundays & Holidays. You can check-in or just stop-on-by anytime the Front Desk is open! And in the back?? Our staff is there ALL THE TIME. No, not sleeping, NOT "living nearby", but actually on-site in the facility, working! Our night staff take regular walks to check on everyone and make sure everyone is sleeping just fine. 7 days a week, 24 hours a day; ALL DAY - ALL NIGHT: EVERY DAY; EVERY NIGHT; ALL THE TIME. Would you want it any other way? By partnering with some of the most talented, qualified and experienced instructors and groups in Virginia, we have assembled an unmatched collection of courses. Did you know that, statistically, trained dogs live longer than their untrained counterpart?! In addition, having your dog trained will also reduce your blood pressure! A bit about our philosophy on training: We believe that positive reinforcement based training is the most humane way to work with animals. While based on positive reinforcement training, we work with a full complement of training methods; concentrating on the least aversive method that succeeds given the situation. Positive reinforcement training is not about being permissive, nor about being a pushover for your dog. Positive reinforcement training is about establishing a relationship with your dog based on trust. Unlike aversive methods, positive reinforcement training is not about fear. We seek to reinforce the dogs' desirable behaviors (with attention, treats, praise and play) and, inversely, challenge ourselves to not reinforce the dog's undesirable behavior. While we prefer the use of a simple buckle collar, we recognize the need for slip collars, prong collars and similar specialized training aids in specific circumstances. We do not, however, use, nor advocate the use of electronic collars nor any type of harsh corrections.
