To not take ur animals there they dont give them 30 hrs before putting them down? There heartless. That's what they did to me. And they say there a no kill shelter. I felt bad already taking them somewhere I had no control over and they call us and say there putting my other dog down cuz hes still a puppy hes 2 and cuz he hits the leash ..... hes playing with u and they took that as aggressive. I know a lot of dogs that do that. Clearly they dont work with animals that well. They need to Re advertise saying they do KILL! They put my other dog down that morning and call us for the other one. I would have never took them if I knew they would do that bullshit. I would have picked her up too. Now I have to live with the fact I took them there thinking my pups would get a good home and feel bad cuz me and my husband r always working and taking r kids to sports that they would find a home someone would love to spend time with them. We just dont have the time! So I'm asking everyone by readying this that A) this is faults advertisement B) they should call to see if u would like u dog back C) they didn't give them a chance to get use to there surrounding before deciding anything!

This place is so clean! And did you know they adopt out non-traditional pets like pigs and chickens! Great atmosphere and staff too!

Best shelter ever! The staff always has a smile on their face and treat the animals as if they were their own! They even help out other shelters within Colorado and across state lines! They have half the budget of Dumb Friends League and have 500 amazing volunteers! Their foster program is top notch too! See for yourself and don't believe the ridiculous negative reviews.

justice for Dream! False advertising, this place is not a NO KILL shelter!!!!!

My puppy went in flea free, not itching, no signs of fleas at all. And after her procedure came out with fleas. They handed her off to me with no remorse. Claiming that she probably got it from down south where I got her from. BUT that was at least two months earlier. And my dog has never shown any signs. So after $120 of k9 advantics meds and frontline meds for my cat. I am warning you to go somewhere else. Your pet deserves better.

This Animal Shelter killed my Cat! She was lost and two weeks later man called me saying his daughter had seen one of my "Missing Cat" signs and told me his wife had taken my cat to Foothills Animal Shelter on 6/3/2012. On 6/5/2012 I called Foothills and asked them if a cat had been brought in, I gave them a very good description of the cat and the told me no cat matching that description had come in. The woman I spoke with suggested putting a "Lost Cat" add on their website, which I did along with a good description and picture of her. When I called after the man who found her called me Foothills told me they had euthanized my cat, They did little to nothing to investigate my initial called only two days after she was brought in, they lied to me over the phone and no one at this shelter even bothered to check the "lost cats" section of their own website during the seven days my cat spent there before they killed her. I am still mortified and furious about this incident. If you lose a cat or dog in the Jeffco area and suspect that your pet has been taken to Foothills Animal Shelter, do not bother to call them or trust that they will do diligence to reunite you with your pet... go there yourself and look through the animals because they won't and they will kill your pet after 7 days.

This animal shelter killed my cat when he was in protective custody by the Westminster Police Department. I had spoke at length to the receptionist named Bonnie about what my plans were for Rusty when I became homeless and had to be hospitalized for severe depression. Instead of finding him a foster family or calling a rescue for my cat they euthanized him without my knowledge or permission. When I inquired about why they killed a perfectly good cat and on what day, they refused to respond. If there is a lawyer out there that would be interested in taking on this case I would greatly appreciate it. I am sure that this is not an isolated case. The shelter needs to be held accountable for this despicable and inhumane action, not to mention increased training when it comes to simple communication. The killing of my cat is something that will haunt me for the rest of my life.
