General Info

Erin's introduction to the healing arts began over twenty-five years ago when she learned transcendental meditation from a philosophy professor and t'ai chi from a dance instructor while completing her bachelors degree in English at Virginia Commonwealth University. These practices led to her study of metaphysics and energy healing with wisdom teacher Joan Lee while she earned her Master's of Fine Arts degree in creative writing at Syracuse University. She began formal studies in bodywork in 2004 at The Swedish Institute: Manhattan NYC Healthcare Training School, but set aside her training in 2006 to accept a faculty position in writing at James Madison University. As a poet, Erin published work in several literary journals as well as the chapbook Resolution (2008, Finishing Line Press), but she felt professionally unfulfilled until she completed her certification in massage therapy in 2012. Now a full-time massage therapist and reflexologist, Erin has also studied Traditional Chinese and Western herbal medicine for over twelve years, and is currently enrolled in the community herbalist program at Green Comfort School of Herbal Medicine. In all healing arts, she strives to keep in mind a mentor's kind words: "Never underestimate the healing dynamic of a compassionate touch."
